Why Africa?
Last year, their daughter Phoebe traveled to Tanzania where she served alongside other young people — and hoped to return. At the same time, Vision 360 Ministries finished a major fundraising effort to buy a drilling rig for a mission center in northern Mozambique, to provide clean water to the more than 100 surrounding villages in which churches are being planted. In the family's own words:
“Unfortunately, their success in hitting water has not been good. That is why we will be bringing a water-detection device and rugged laptop to the mission for their use. Our family has been trained in how to use this device to find water and will be training the well drilling crew in how to use it to improve their success.”
They'll also complete the plumbing and electrical for four apartments at the mission, where doctors and nurses from Brazil will stay when they come for future clinics. The mission is home to 70 orphans who live at the school, 30 staff, and over 1,200 students from the surrounding Muslim community — whose families are happy for their children to receive the quality Christian education available there. And the villages where wells are drilled are happy to welcome the young pastors and their wives trained by the mission.
